Over the weekend, a horrifying scene unfolded during a football match between Garmense and Independencia of the Tres Arroyos Regional League.
After receiving a yellow card, a male player lost his temper and attacked a female referee.
Several players tried to prevent this nasty incident from happening, but they were unable to do so.
A video of this attack has surfaced on Twitter. Be careful though, it is very disturbing.
Cristian Tirone has been identified as the player who hit the official, Dalma Cortadi.
Tirone was arrested shortly after attacking Cortadi, who reportedly filed charges against him.
Garmense released a statement about the horrific incident.
“In view of the events that occurred this Sunday in the third division football match played in the city of Adolfo Gonzales Chaves between Garmense and Independencia, in which a Garmense player physically attacked the woman who officiated as as referee, the Club expresses its energetic repudiation of this action which is in contradiction with the spirit that we want to instill in the practice of this sport”, we read in the press release, via TMZ.
Tirone has been permanently banned from the Regional League of Tres Arroyos.
