Tamburino’s four goals lift Westmo/Oriskany on UAS
Jack Tamburino scored all four of his goals in the first half of the Westmoreland/Oriskany Men’s Soccer Team’s 5-1 win Friday over host Utica Academy of Science in the Center State Conference.
Nick Hays also scored for the Bulldogs. Anthony Sawanec and Tyler Tamburino had one assist each.
David Cronauer made six saves in goal and also scored while Hays was in goal with a save in split time.
Rifet Sokolar scored for Utica from a pass from Abdulkamir Osman.
Luismark Martinez made four saves in net for Utica.
Westmoreland-Oriskany is now 9-2 and plays 7 tonight at Canastota in the league.
Utica Academy of Science, 5-4, hosts Clinton in the league at 4:30 p.m. today.
Six goals by six players for a balanced victory for Sauquoit
Six different Sauquoit Valley players each scored a goal in a 6-0 win over Sherburne-Earlville on Friday in Central State.
Vitaliy Chumkh and Quincy Stayton had one goal and one assist each. Nicholas Giuliano, James Henck, Colin Jones and Jake Latino also scored. Zackary Murphy, Allen Brown and Zachary Latino each got an assist.
Alex Prichard made one save and Broc Barker made two in the split in front of Sauquoit’s goal.
Goaltender Avery Parsons made 12 saves for the Marauders.
Sauquoit plays at 5 p.m. today at Frankfort-Schuyler in the league.
FRG cleared in football defeat
The FRG men’s soccer team lost 1-0 at home to East Syracuse Minoa on Saturday in a non-league game.
Henry Callahan scored the game’s only goal on an assist from Anel Suljic.
Parker Gamble made a dozen saves and Reide Scolaro made one in split time for the ESM goal.

Whitesboro falls in overtime
Mike Meskos scored the game-winning goal with 3:26 left in first overtime for Jamesville-Dewitt at Whitesboro in the boys’ non-league game Saturday.
The goal was assisted by Sam Allen from a free kick. Allen also made four saves in goal to earn the shutout.
Kaidan Fischer stopped six shots in the Warriors net in the loss.

Rome Free Academy women’s soccer team won 2-1 at home to non-league opponents Baldwinsville on Saturday 2-1.
Mikayla McPheron and Brynn Furbeck scored for the Black Knights. Brooke Egresits and Nicolina Lokker had one assist each.
Miranda McCormick made 10 saves in goal for RFA.

The Sauquoit Valley women’s soccer team earned a 4-3 home win over Clinton on Saturday in a non-league game.
Ella Dischiavo scored twice in the win. Addison Lazarek scored a goal and an assist. Kamryn Yerman also scored. Olivia Kalil got an assist.
Jadyn Land stopped four shots on goal for Sauquoit.
Ava Lopata scored twice in the loss. Lydia DeTraglia scored and got an assist for Clinton. Paige Luke picked up an assist.

The Central Valley Academy women’s soccer team won 2-1 at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill on Saturday in the Tri-Valley League.
Megan Canipe scored and got an assist for CVA. Izzy Terzioski also scored. Sophia Watkins got an assist.
Hoffman Payton made six saves in net for the win.
Laiken Kiser scored the only goal for VVS. Emma Dam made six saves and Grace Maranville made three in split time.

Madalynne Enos had two goals and an assist to help Westmoreland Football to a 4-1 victory at home to Adirondack on Saturday in the non-league game.
Ava Geglia had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs. Samantha Ferguson also scored. Olivia Moore and Ella McGregor had one assist each.
Emily Gubbins stopped two shots for Westmoreland.

Imagin Aiken stopped all five shots she faced to help Remsen earn a 3-0 win at Oriskany in Women’s Soccer on Saturday in Central State. Julia Dening made the whole score with a hat trick.

Gretchen Grimm scored two goals and Gracen Grimm also scored a goal in Clinton’s field hockey team’s 3-1 win at the VVS on Saturday in a non-league game.

HP overtakes Oneida
The Holland Patent field hockey team scored three first-quarter goals en route to a 5-0 victory at Oneida in the TVL on Friday. Alivia Alexander’s hat trick powered the Golden Knights offence.
Alexander also got an assist. Madison Oliver scored and got an assist. Izzy Stalker also scored. Maggie Cummings got an assist.
Bethany Honness made 10 saves in goal for Oneida. HP Guardian stats have not been submitted.

VVS cross-country competes in McQuaid Invitational
The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill cross country team competed in the 57th McQuaid Invitational at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester on Saturday.
The boys finished fifth out of 50 teams in the A-1 varsity race for small schools.
The Red Devils’ top eight among the 376 runners were Killian Bauer in 18th, Benjamin Bellinger in 31st, Jordan Wingert in 34th, Nathan Geroux in 46th, Rowan Planck in 93rd, RJ Krupski in 138th, Fateh Syedin in 141st and Brenden Genei in 142nd. .
The team also finished 43rd out of 179 full teams in the merged results.
The women’s team finished 23rd out of 36 in their heat.
The individual runner finishes were Lacey Simmons in 48th, Natalie Hurd in 89th, Kasadee Leonard in 125th, Brilynne Stover in 191st, Ella Burton in 239th, Savannah Jones in 250th and Madeline Fox in 269th.
