Szarek’s hat-trick beats Westmoreland-Oriskany in football win
The Westmoreland-Oriskany Men’s Soccer Team shut out Adirondack 6-0 on Tuesday, with Tyler Szarek’s hat trick accounting for half the goals in the Center State Conference home game.
The Bulldogs scored three goals in the first half and then three more after the break.
Jacob Usyk scored twice for the Bulldogs. Anthony Sawanec had the other goal. Jack Tamburino had three assists. Riley Smith had two. Nick Hays and Jack Tagliaferrri had one assist each.
David Cronauer had a save and Hays had two time-split saves in the Westmoreland-Oriskany goal.
Adirondacks goalie stats weren’t available.
Westmoreland-Oriskany is now 6-1 and plays Clinton at 4:30 p.m. today in the league.
Adirondack, 1-6, plays Canastota tonight at 7 in the league.
Raiders win big thanks to Somow’s hat trick
The Utica Proctor boys’ soccer team defeated Holland Patent 9-0 at home in the Tri-Valley League on Tuesday. Siidahmed Somow scored three goals and his teammate Amir Halilovic had two goals and three assists.
Weya Myint scored a goal and an assist. Andrew Dischiavo, La Eh Soe and Hussein Abukar each scored one goal. Abdi Mohamed collected a pair of assists. Abdukadir Mohamed, Sharif Ali and Alan Catic had one assist each.
The Raiders built a 6-0 advantage at halftime.
Proctor’s Asim Gacic made one save and Nadil Ramic made five in split time.
Holland Patent’s Andrew Stanley made four saves and Joseph McChesney made 10 split saves.
Proctor plays a championship game in Whitesboro today at 4:30 p.m.

The New Hartford boys’ soccer team defeated Central Valley Academy 4-0 in the TVL on Tuesday at home.
Pepe Aragon, Ashton Giambrone, Aly Radwan and Chase Giambrone scored for the Spartans. Noah Partenza got an assist.
Chris Suriano made two saves for the shutout.

Mount Markham surmounts Sauquoit
The Mount Markham men’s soccer team earned a 2-0 win over host Sauquoit Valley on Tuesday in the Center State Conference.
Ryan Denton and Arjay Piersma scored for the Mustangs. Will Lunny got an assist.
In goal, Nate Pcola made three saves to earn the shutout.
Alex Prichard made 15 saves for the hosts.
Sauquoit hosts Cooperstown at 7 tonight in the league.

The Rome Free Academy women’s soccer team beat host Utica-Notre Dame 10-0 in the TVL on Tuesday.

Spartans football continues unbeaten streak
The New Hartford women’s soccer team’s unbeaten streak is now 45 games after the team’s 3-0 win at CVA on Tuesday in the Tri-Valley.
The Spartans scored all of their goals in the first half. Biddue Clive, Alex Volo and Anna Rayhill each scored for the Spartans. Sophia and Talia Vitullo got one assist each.
Savannah Cole made three saves in net for New Hartford.
CVA did not provide statistics.
The defending Class A state champions improve to 7-0-1 overall and 6-0 in the TVL. The team travel to Germany for a 4:15 p.m. game today in the league.

Blank CVA of the Red Devils
The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill field hockey team defeated Central Valley Academy 3-0 on Tuesday in the TVL.
The Red Devils scored all three goals in the second quarter.
Carmella Garcia scored and got an assist. Meredith Guertin and Grace Croft also scored a goal each.
CVA goalkeeper Morgan Russo made 11 saves.

Herkimer shut out in field hockey
The Herkimer field hockey team lost a 1-0 game to Morrisville-Eaton at Center State on Tuesday at home.
Julie Tomcho scored for Morrisville in the second quarter with an assist from Addison Shantel.
Irene Richardson made two saves in the Morrisville goal.
Hannah Minguela made five saves for the Magicians, who visit Mount Markham at 4.30pm on Monday.
HP organizes a cross-country event
Holland Patent held a cross-country meet on Tuesday, with the Whitesboro girls and VVS boys getting the best results.
In the girls’ race, Whitesboro beat VVS 24-33, beat Camden 15-50 and had 15 runs against and an incomplete result by HP. VVS edged Camden 19-26.
The winner of the girls race was Lacey Simmons of VVS in 22:33. The rest of the top 10 were Catherine Manna of Whitesboro, Maria Stuhlman of Whitesboro, Natalie Hurd of VVS, Courtney Robinson of Whitesboro, Emily Lamore of Whitesboro, Kasadee Leonardo of VVS and Averie Wengert of Whitesboro, Kathryn Bauer and Maria Liuzzi.
In boys, VVS beat HP 18-27, beat CAmden 18-39 and edged Whitesboro 22-33. Whitesboro beat HP 22-36 and Camden 23-26. HP beat Camden 25-34.
The winner of the boys race was Killian Bauer of VVS in 18:57. The rest of the top 10 were Seth Stevens of Whitesboro, Ben Bellinger of VVS, Nathan Geroux of VVS, Andrew Kanclerz of HP, Connor Perrotta of Camden, Justin DiGiorgio of Whitesboro, Rowan Planck of VVS, David Mathewson of HP and Elijah Jackson of Camden .
West Germany’s Townsend wins the cross country race
Both the boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams from the FRG put on strong performances in the cross-country race organized by Oneida on Tuesday. Marlo Townsend won the girls race for RFA and Carson Campbell finished second for the Black Knights in the boys race.
Townsend’s best time was 20:51. Her teammates’ results were: Julissa Luciano in third, Gianna Badolato in fifth, Shannen Calandra in sixth, Sofia Melone in eighth, Shavaia Parry in 12th and Caitlin Platis in 15th.
RFA edged Oneida 20-37 and beat CVA 18-41.
On the boys side, RFA beat Oneida 21-38 and beat CVA 16-43. Oneida was one point better than CVA head-to-head, 28-29.
Oneida’s Tyson Fuller won in 18:19. The other RFA finishers after Campbell were: Karl vanHoesel in third, Ethan Baker in fourth, Grady Engelbert in fifth, Nick Toth-Ratazzi in eighth, Luke Pelton in 12th and Jonathyn Langone in 13th.
NH, ND and Proctor face off in cross-country
Proctor’s Nico Tidmore won the three-school TVL cross-country meet on Tuesday. New Hartford and Utica-Notre Dame also participated in the race organized by Proctor.
Tidmore, a senior, ran the 3.1-mile race in 18:12.6 minutes.
The rest of the top 10 were: Owen Sweet of Proctor; Jake Englehart of Notre Dame; Jordan Palmer, Jake Rockford, Hassan Abdelwahed and Jake Dembrow of New Hartford; Thomas Destefano of Notre Dame; David Daley of New Hartford; and Eric Carville of Notre Dame.
New Hartford beat Proctor 25-36. Notre Dame edged Proctor 25-30. New Hartford beat Notre Dame 21-38.
