Players can now play football in Call of Duty: War Zone thanks to a new game mode. Reddit user ironkitt was the first to highlight the Easter egg, posting a video that shows him shooting a giant soccer ball around the Verdansk stadium. The soccer game can only be found in a new mode available in the Battle Royale game. Users who enter “Face Off – Verdansk Stadium” can find the hidden ball in the middle of the map and use weapons to move it. Hitting the ball into either net brings up text to confirm players have scored a goal, while the scoreboards at the top of the stadium even keep track of the current score in real time. Celebratory fireworks also accompany each goal, showing the effort the developers put into the secret Easter egg.

War zone turned out to be an incredibly lucrative version for Activision. Since its launch last year, the game has been downloaded millions of times and continues to maintain a very large population. Earlier this month, the publisher confirmed that microtransactions and other in-game purchases of the Battle Royale title and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare accounted for over $ 500 million in revenue.

With the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, players will be very happy to see that Activision does not neglect Call of Duty: War Zone. There might have been concerns that the multiplayer mode would focus on the sequel, but Infinity Ward and the publisher continue to release regular updates to the game. This Easter Egg is just another example of this, demonstrating that more content will be added to the Battle Royale game.
