AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men’s soccer team hosts Rhode Island for their Grassroot Soccer charity game at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rudd Field. The Minutemen will be fundraising in conjunction with Grassroot Soccer in hopes of raising enough money to send at least 100 at-risk youth to Grassroot Soccer programs.
The Minutemen hope to raise at least $250 in donations for each player to dedicate to the cause. On game day, the Minutemen will warm up in Grassroot Soccer jerseys in addition to information announcements for awareness. The team will also provide educational brochures highlighting the organization’s meaningful and measurable work. If you are interested in supporting the cause, visit the UMass Men’s Soccer Fundraising Page here.
Grassroot Soccer is an international organization that uses the power of soccer to educate and mentor adolescents about their biggest health issues, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence. For every $25 donated, an at-risk child is supported through Grassroot Soccer programs and given a much greater opportunity to lead a healthy life.
