The football and field hockey playoffs are heading into the state quarterfinals, while regional volleyball are expected to begin in the coming days.

Boys Football
Three Bayside South boys’ football teams are heading to the state playoffs after going through the regionals this week. While one team appeared to navigate the competition in the regionals, two more had to face rivals from the Bayside Conference in their regional championship games, with clutch goals pushing them forward.
The Parkside Rams men’s soccer team moved through 2A East Region II, winning a 3-1 victory over North Caroline in the semi-final and a 5-2 victory over Kent Island in the regional final. Luke MacDonald and Sam Ball led the way for the Rams with two goals apiece against Kent Island. The Rams will get a home game in the state quarterfinals, as they are scheduled to host Eastern Tech from Baltimore on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
In the 3A South Region II Championship, James M. Bennett and Stephen Decatur had a rematch of their regular season finale, and the playoff game was even more exciting than the original. After coming in at half time tied 1-1, Decatur took a lead early in the second half over Bennett from a James Barrett penalty. But the Clippers wouldn’t leave that easily, as Cooper Johnston tied the game at 2-2 and Noah Flanders scored the go-ahead goal to complete the comeback and keep their season alive.
As the seed of Class 3A, Bennett will host Franklin High School in Reistertown at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Dockyard in the State Quarterfinals.
The Bennett-Decatur game wasn’t the only regional championship decided between Bayside South’s opponents this week, as Pocomoke and Mardela also faced off on Wednesday afternoon. It took two extra time and shots on goal for the game to be decided and a champion to be crowned, but Pocomoke won over Mardela 4-3, with Trent Rayfield scoring the game-winning goal to send the Warriors to the quarterfinals. of State.
Pocomoke will now go on the road to face Fallston on Friday afternoon in the State Quarterfinals.
Girls football
Parkside’s women’s football team notched two regional semifinal and championship victories to send them to the state tournament this week, with the Rams picking up big wins on the road.
First, the Rams beat seeded Kent Island on penalties. And in the regional final against North Caroline, the Rams came back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to win 4-3 in overtime, becoming the 2A Champions of East Region II. In the state quarterfinals, the Parkside will now have to hit the road to face seeded Glenelg on Friday afternoon.
The Rams aren’t the only team heading to the state quarterfinals, as Snow Hill also secured their ticket to the state quarterfinals with a 2-1 win over Mardela in the 1A Championship. East Region II. The Eagles will now travel to Brunswick to face the Brunswick Railroaders in the state quarterfinals.
Field hockey
The Pocomoke Warriors field hockey team is heading to the state tournament, after a dominant performance in the regional semifinals and a victory in the regional championship game.
The Warriors dominated their game against Crisfield on Monday, winning 15-0, with Leni Wittman scoring eight goals that day. And the Warriors wouldn’t stop there, taking a 4-2 victory over Parkside, Wittman and Abbey East scoring two goals apiece to make Pocomoke the Class 1A Champions of East Region II. Pocomoke is the seed of the 1A State tournament and will host Cecil County North East High School in the state quarterfinals on Friday night.

Volleyball
While the regional soccer and field hockey championships have already been played, the MPSSAA volleyball teams are just starting their regional playoff games on Thursday afternoon.
There are two Bayside South teams in 3A South Region II, and Bennett will be the first to kick off their playoffs as they host the Chesapeake Cougars this afternoon at 5pm in the regional quarterfinals.
Stephen Decatur is also part of 3A South Region II, and as champions of Bayside South they have been given a week off and will play their first game on November 8 at home against game winner Crofton and Northeast.
In Game 2A East Region II, Wi-Hi travels today to face North Caroline for the regional quarter-finals at 5:00 p.m. ET. In the same area, Parkside is also on the road, as they take on Kent Island at 5:30 p.m.
In the 1A East Region II quarter-finals, Pocomoke is expected to hit the road and face Kent County at 5pm this afternoon. Snow Hill gets a week off before welcoming Colonel Richardson on November 8 in the regional semi-finals.
