OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT)- Omaha Union clashes with Central Valley Fuego tomorrow at 6 p.m.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and the club president invites fans to come early for something special.
“Pre-game festivities will begin at approximately 5:35 p.m. in honor of last year’s champion,” Omaha Union President Martie J. Cordaro said.
One thing that might stand out this year is the lack of COVID restrictions. The club started its inaugural season in 2020. The last 2 seasons have been marked by limitations, but this year things are different.
“This will be the first normal year and I’m using it here with air quotes because we don’t know how normal 2022 will be, but as we say on the Storm Chaser side: this will be our first normal year since 2019 “said Cordaro.
Union Omaha led the league last year, averaging more than 3,000 fans per game.
Many groups of die-hard supporters fill the stands. One of these groups is Omaha Parliament.
“We look forward to these events every week, not just watching the team, watching the game, but coming together to have a good time before the game, have a good time during the game,” said Jon Ryan, Member of Parliament from Omaha.
Jon encourages anyone who hasn’t seen a game yet to try and get to Werner Park for the football and the atmosphere.
“My screensaver for my phone is currently me holding the championship trophy from last year and all my friends and all the supporters from that night, we will never forget that night. That’s why we attend these matches week after week, hoping to have a moment like this one day”
