Arizona football game against Nebraska ends in a draw

Arizona entered the Nebraska game undefeated this season. The game ended in a 1-1 draw after two long halves. The goal scored against Arizona was the result of a hard center hitting an Arizona defender.

The goal was created by Maddy Koleno who beat several defenders and tapped the ball towards Sami Baytosh who was at the top of the penalty area. Baytosh then kicked the ball into the net with his right foot, narrowly missing the keeper’s hands. Baytosh is a freshman scoring her first college goal.

After that goal, Arizona’s mindset changed and they were hungry for more. Arizona had several chances on Nebraska’s goal, but nothing was successful. Arizona had a great chance for another goal when Madison Goerlinger received the ball from a corner and headed it just over the net.

Arizona retained the majority of ball possession, which gave them another chance at goal. Ella Hatteberg kicked a ball to the left side of the box, where Baytosh was waiting, and fired a shot on goal. Unfortunately, a Nebraska defender deflected the shot off the line.

Arizona kept pushing but was unlucky. There were several fouls throughout the game and Arizona goaltender Hope Hisey made four saves. As a result, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Arizona’s next game is at Grand Canyon University on September 1.
